British Council photographic workshop in Lagos

Just got back from an 8 day workshop organised by the British Council in Nigeria for 8 aspiring photographers. I mentored the workshop with fellow British photographer Joy Gregory.

The project was around the issue of climate change in Nigeria and the photographers had a tight 4 days including travel to shoot. Then it was back to Lagos to edit and prepare the images for a catalogue and exhibition taking place on the 19th March at the British council offices in Lagos.

With presentations and discussions around photojournalism, documentary and conceptual photography the schedule was pretty hectic. All the photographers had a incredible appetite to take on a lot of new information and were very open minded in how to approach the project.

I am very proud and honoured to have been involved in this project, specially on a continent that is so under represented by home grown photographers with any kind of international profile or opportunity.
